TRAINERS
TA'ANG SAN ZANG ~ The Holy Monk , Trainer of the World Saviors

Background :
TA'ANG SAN ZANG is the Holy Monk who set out to the west to retrieve Pokemon legendary scriptures. Because he seem helpless when it comes to defending himself, the Bodhisattva GUAN DE VOIR helps by finding him powerful pokemons (SUN WU NAPE, ZHU BA PIG & SHA WU DUCK) who aid and protect him on his journey. In return, the disciples will receive enlightenment and forgiveness for their sins once the journey is done. The fact is, SAN ZANG himself is a powerful elemental monk that have mastered all 5 main elements (Fire, Water, Ground, Wood & Steel). But he must entering the Avatar mode to use his elemental skills. (And he didn't know about this until later, this is why he look powerless most of the time )
Along the way, they help the local inhabitants by defeating various strong wild Pokemons. The fact that most of the wild Pokemons are trying to obtain immortality by eating SAN ZANG's flesh, and are even attracted to him as he is depicted as quite handsome, provides much of the plot in the story.


POKEMONS
1. SUN WU NAPE ~ The Monkey King
Species : Infernape

Background :
He was born out of a Meteo Ball that fall down from outer space. He first distinguished himself by bravely entering the Cave of Water Curtains at the Mountains of Flowers and Fruits ; for this feat, his monkey tribe gave him the title of Měi-hóuwáng ("handsome monkey-king"). Later, he started making trouble in Heaven and defeated an army of 100,000 celestial pokemons, led by the Four Heavenly Kings (HEV MON CAN, HEV MON LEE, HEV MON TOP & HEV MON QUE), Heaven General - BLA ZI SHEN, and ME DI ZHA. Eventually, the Jade Emperor - AR CE ROR appealed to HARI YA DHA, who subdued and trapped WU NAPE under a mountain. He was only saved when SAN ZANG came by him on his pilgrimage and accepted him as his pokemon.
His primary weapon is the rúyì-jīngū-bàng ("will-following golden-banded staff"), which he can shrink down to the size of a needle and keep behind his ear, as well as expand it to gigantic proportions (hence the "will-following" part of the name). The staff, originally a pillar supporting the undersea palace of the East Sea Dragon King, weighs 13,500 pounds, which he pulled out of its support and swung with ease. The Dragon King, not wanting him to cause any trouble, also gave him a suit of golden armor. These gifts, combined with his devouring of the peaches of immortality and three jars of immortality pills while in Heaven, plus his ordeal in the eight-trigram brazier of RAI ZHU (which gave him a steel-hard body and fiery golden eyes), makes WU NAPE the strongest member of the pilgrimage. Besides these abilities, he can also pull hairs from his body and blow on them to transform them into whatever he wishes (usually clones of himself to gain a numerical advantage in battle). Although he has mastered seventy-two methods of transformations, it does not mean that he is restricted to seventy-two different forms. He also have a Heavenly Cloud - GE WU which have been friend with WU NAPE since he's born. He use GE WU to only to travel the team & himself in critical situations (WU NAPE can fly , but still slower than GE WU whom is a cloud pokemon). WU NAPE uses his talents to fight Pokemons and play pranks.
SUN WU NAPE's behavior is checked by a band placed around his head by GUAN DE VOIR , which cannot be removed by WU NAPE himself until the journey's end. SAN ZANG can tighten this band by chanting the Tightening-Crown spell (taught to him by GUAN DE VOIR) whenever he needs to chastise him. The spell is referred to by SAN ZANG's disciples as the "Headache Sutra", which is the Buddhist mantra of Avalokiteśvara, "oṃ maṇipadme hūṃ." SAN ZANG speaks this mantra quickly in repetition.
WU NAPE's child-like playfulness is a huge contrast to his cunning mind. This, coupled with his acrobatic skills, makes him a likeable hero, though not necessarily a good role model. His antics present a lighter side in what proposes to be a long and dangerous trip into the unknown.

The Chinese writings on SUN WU NAPE's staff is 孫悟空 (Sūn Wùkōng) , 齊天大聖 (Qítiān Dàshèng - "Great Sage, Equal of Heaven") , 鬥戰勝佛 (Dòu-zhànshèng-fó - "Victorious Fighting Buddha")


2. ZHU BA PIG ~ The Naughty Piggy

Background :
Once an immortal who was the Tiānpéng-yuánshuǎi ("Field Marshal Tianpeng") of 100,000 soldiers of the Milky Way. During a celebration of gods, he drank too much and attempted to flirt with Chang Er, the beautiful moon goddess, resulting in his banishment into the mortal world. He was supposed to be reborn as a human, but ended up in the womb of a Grumpig due to an error at the Reincarnation Wheel, which turned him into a Grumpig. Staying within Yúnzhan-dòng ("cloud-pathway cave"), he was commissioned by GUAN DE VOIR to accompany SAN ZANG to the West and given the new name ZHU WU PIG.
However, WU PIG's desire for women led him to Gao Village, where he posed as a human and took a wife. Later, when the villagers discovered that he was a pokemon, WU PIG hid the girl away. At this point, SAN ZANG and WU NAPE arrived at Gao Village and helped subdue him. Renamed ZHU BA PIG by Xuanzang, he consequently joined the pilgrimage to the West.
His weapon of choice is the jiǔchǐdīngpá ("nine-tooth iron rake"). He is also capable of thirty-six transformations (as compared to WU NAPE's seventy-two), and can travel on clouds, but not as fast as WU NAPE. However, BA PIG is noted for his fighting skills in the water, which he used to combat SHA WU DUCK, who later joined them on the journey. He is the second strongest member of the team.

3. SHA WU DUCK ~ The Friar Sandy
Species : Golduck
Gender : Male
Type : Water
Ability : Damp & Cloud Nine

Background :
SHA WU DUCK was once the Curtain Raising General, who stood in attendance by the imperial chariot in the Hall of Miraculous Mist. He was exiled to the mortal world and made into a pokemon because he accidentally smashed a crystal goblet belonging to the Heavenly Queen Mother during the Peach Banquet. The now-hideous pokemon took up residence in the Flowing Sands River, terrorizing the surrounding villages and travelers trying to cross the river. However, he was subdued by SUN WUN NAPE & ZHU BA PIG when SAN ZANG party came across him. They consequently took him in, as part of the pilgrimage to the West.
SHA WU DUCK's weapon is the yuèyáchǎn ("Crescent-Moon-Shovel" or "Monk's Spade"). Aside from that, he knows eighteen transformations and is highly effective in water combat. He is about as strong as BA PIG, and is much stronger than WU NAPE in water. However, BA PIG can beat WU DUCK in a test of endurance, and WU NAPE can beat him out of water.
SHA WU DUCK is known to be the most obedient, logical, and polite of the three disciples, and always takes care of his trainer, seldom engaging in the bickerings of his fellow-disciples. He has no major faults nor redeeming characteristics. Perhaps this is why he is sometimes seen as a minor character.

4. RA PI LONG ~ The Dragon Horse
Species : Rapidash

Type : Fire
Ability : Run Away & Flash Fire

Background :
He is once a Seadra & the son of Sea Dragon King. One day, he ate TA'ANG SAN ZANG' horse without knew that was the holy monk's horse. SO, he was changed by GUAN DE VOIR to be the team's horse as a Rapidash. He rarely fight & only use as last resort, because WU NAPE had defeat the enemies almost everytime. He is also become WU DUCK's best friend aside from SAN ZANG, as WU DUCK is the one who always take care of PI LONG.

5. TO GE WU ~ The Heavenly Cloud

Gender : Female
Type : Normal - Flying
Ability : Hustle & Serene Grace

Background :
No one know where's she come from. Some rumour said she was born from the clouds. She is also the first one saw the newborn Monkey King, SUN WU NAPE and become his best friends ever because even until WU NAPE become SAN ZANG pokemon, GE WU still follow him. She's the same with PI LONG, rarely fight, even rarest than PI LONG. She mainly used as team's transportation in critical situation.
