It's the list of anime,games,movies,etc that inspired by the original Xi You Ji (Saiyuki) - Journey To The West.
Dragon Ball story & Infernape original design indeed is based to Xi You Ji
So,we don't want to see comment about "this looks like Dragon Ball"
* Dragon Ball is the one adapting Xi You Ji, not vice versa

Pokemon-Journey to the West

Yeah, we have tell some people at some forums,that we want to make a drawing that show a compability between Pokemon and Xi You Ji (Saiyuki) - Journey To The West story.
This idea & the Pokemon Matching is totally our idea,so if u want to draw/write a same idea with this,please ask/credit us

However,the sketch of this picture have laying around our desk for several months ago,but because too busy ,we cannot complete it

OK, back to topic.
Here the story (based on Buddhist tale "Journey to the West " story)
and it's quite long, hope u didn't sleepy when read it ^^

"there's once a great magical monkey that born from a meteor that fall down to earth, human called it Infernape (Songoku / Sūn Wùkōng). Then he was studied in a magic university. in that university Infernape make friends with the other legendary(gods)' childs,Tauros(Ox King) & Jynx (Lady Fan).

Later,after grown up & have a great magic abilty & the legendary techniques called "72 magic of transforming".He go to the sea where a great magical staff lies.
There he defeat Lugia (sea dragon god), and steal the magic staff. Then he go to heaven & challenge the gods .He destroy some of the buildings in Heaven
His action is so brutal that make Hariyama (Buddha) come and challenge him "if u can pase my hands, i will let you do whatever you want".
Of course , the cocky & prideful Infernape, accept the challenge, but wherever he go, he cannot escape from Hariyama. Then Hariyama smash Infernape with his huge palm to the Earth,then seal it into the infamous 5 Fingers Mountain.
Then Gardevoir (Seiju Kannon) come and tell him "someday there will be a holy monk come by,and save you, but you must follow him to the west to search the Tripitaka.

The day come, Mewtwo (the holy monk) come and release Infernape from the mountain. Of course at first Infernape didn;t want hear & obey Mewtwo, then Mewtwo use the magic ring that Gardevoir give him, the ring go to Infernape head,and will become smaller everytime Mewtwo read the magic mantras. So, the wild Infernape go along Mewtwo to the west.

In town , they meet a Manpig who is like to chasing young ladies. Infernape beat him, and the ManPig beg for mercy. his name is Grumpig (Cho Hakkai /Zhū Bājiè).
"Grumpig in the past life was a respecful general of the gods army, but because he fall in love with a female ,which is prohibited for the gods, he was dropped to Earth to feel the life as a Pokemon & must fell the 5000 circle of life which in each of that life ,he will experienced a broken heart because denied by human females, and then will suicide. at his 4999 life, he accidentaly fall into a pokemon well,and born into a pig pokemon,Grumpig ."
Then ,again Gardevoir come by & tell Grumpig, if he want to become a human again, he must follow Mewtwo party to the west to search for Tripitaka.
and , the party has now added one member.

when travelling, they stopped into a calm river, that named "Death River" by local peoples. and the water colour is reddish
because there is a myth , a demon live in the river & like to eat humans & pokemons.
When attempt to cross the river, MewTwo was captured into the river. Infernape who afraid of water didn't dare to dive, so Grumpig, go in and meet the demon who is Blastoise (Shā Gojyo / Shā Wùjìng ).
He capture Mewtwo because he hear a rumor that eat a holy monk meat an make youthful & eternal.
Because the battle in water was hard to win by Grumpig, he cornered Blastoise to the river surface, where Infernape has waiting & then easily beat Blastoise.
and, like you already probably guessed, Blastoise join with the party

the last member is the horse, Rapidash. We barely remember how can it join the party, but in the real story the horse is originally a prince water dragon. He is the son of King Water Dragon. if not wrong, he was going to harm the holy monk, then beaten by Goku, and punish to be a horse & must follow the party , so he can be a dragon again ^^

and here how we choose the pairing
1. Infernape as Songoku / Sūn Wùkōng > no doubt, Infernape is the best pairing in this story,as Infernape original design was inspired by the Great Monkey King
2. Grumpig as Cho Hakkai / Zhū Bājiè > the second best pairing. simple because Grumpig is a pig
3. Blastoise as Sha Gojyo / Shā Wùjìng > this one pretty tough to choose. as the original story , Gojyo is a river demon,and many version show it as a manturtle, so we choose Blastoise. Why not Torterra ?. because Torterra cannot stand ^^
4. Mewtwo as the holy Monk-Sanjo / Táng-sānzàng > maybe many will confuse with this one. Here the reason, the holy monk is suppose to have a great magical/psychic power,so we choose Mewtwo. if u have other candidates better then Mewtwo, plese tell us. as we sure no pokemon out there can match with the holy monk^^
5. Rapidash as the Horse (forget the real name) > the third best pairing,since Rapidash is a horse ^^
6. Tauros as the Ox King > same as usual Tauros is a Bull ^^
7. Jynx as the Lady Fan > now this the toughest one, we just randomly choose as female like pokemon. Please tell us if there's a better pokemon for it .
8. Hariyama as Buddha > Because Hariyama is Human like, and has a huge palm.
9. Gardevoir as Seiju Kannon > Because Gardevoir is female ,and pretty,calm,beautiful, so she is the best candidates. Tell us if there's a better pokemon
